Several times a year I travel with a small group of up to 7 travellers to Trakehnen. At the end of September 2013 there was a special occasion — I went with guests from Germany to the present-day Kaliningrad Oblast, to Trakehnen (Russian Yasnaya Polyana). On 29 September 2013 the day finally came…
Even before the celebration, the local broadcaster conducted a long interview with Daniela Wiemer about the meaning of Tempelhüter and her books on Trakehnen. The books can be found at the bottom of this page.
The ceremony began at the cemetery of honour — in memory of the soldiers who fell in the Second World War.
The festive ceremony continued in front of the former Master of the Stud's House (Landstallmeisterhaus).
Local residents and visiting guests watched a performance by a Russian folk group.
A village dog grew bored and was already "testing" the red carpet…
Dr Gerhard Kuebart — grand-nephew of the sculptor Reinhold Kuebart — gave the festive speech.
The monument was unveiled by Messrs Bilinski (mayor), Mörig and Kuebart.
The Russian breeders' association had invited two breeding stallions and two breeding mares from private ownership to Trakehnen.

During the ceremony, Mr Vladimir Sudian, owner of the "Alte Apotheke" inn, was awarded a silver pin of honour by the Ebenrode District Community. He had made significant contributions to the efforts for the erection of the Tempelhüter. My travellers and I have also come to appreciate his readiness to help.
Dr Kuebart truly had reason to rejoice…
