Masuria tour — land without haste

If you travel with us, we go to Masuria. In German people often mistakenly say "in die Masuren" in the plural — but in fact "Masuren" is singular; "die Masuren" refers to the past and present inhabitants. In English Masuria functions naturally as a singular regional name.
Masuria comprised the former districts of Neidenburg (Nidzica), Ortelsburg (Szczytno), Sensburg (Mrągowo), Johannisburg (Pisz), Lötzen (Giżycko), Lyck (Ełk) and Oletzko, as well as parts of the districts of Osterode, Angerburg and Goldap. Masuria has never had clearly defined boundaries — on maps the region was often shown slightly differently. Since the 1999 administrative reform, Poland has the Warmia-Masuria voivodeship (Województwo warmińsko-mazurskie), which historically covers approximately the southern part of the former province of East Prussia — with Warmia and Masuria.
During the journey we will also tell you about the people who have lived for generations in this region — the Masurs.
A stay in Masuria is a particularly special experience. The wonderful nature, historical places and — not least — the relaxed way of life of the locals make Masuria unforgettable.
The Masurian landscape is shaped by wide, sparsely populated areas with more than 3,000 lakes, small rivers and canals, vast forests, and a unique flora and fauna.
Where Warmia and Masuria meet, we have discovered an exceptional place — a former farmstead which we immediately came to love for its quiet location, away from roads and other buildings. But what convinced us most were the owners — Grażyna and Andrzej — with their openness and warmth.
They found this old house — with its soul and unique atmosphere — saved it from falling into ruin and gave it a second life. They renovated, rebuilt and furnished it with old furniture and items they have collected over the years.
Today Grażyna and Andrzej offer spacious guest rooms with private bathrooms. The interior combines aesthetic experience and comfort. Quite simply a dream!
If you wish to experience silence — here it is possible. But how does one describe silence? It is the pauses between the buzzing of insects, the song of birds, the croaking of frogs or the calls of cranes — which have a resting place nearby.
This place is wonderfully suited as a base for daily excursions. Within less than 20 km lie Osterode (Ostróda), Hohenstein (Olsztynek) and Allenstein (Olsztyn).
We offer week-long stays in this wonderful place. Extensions are possible. We will gladly plan day trips with you in advance according to your wishes — simply write to us.
