Travel advice and visas
The territory of the former East Prussian province today belongs to Poland, Russia and Lithuania.
Below you will find the latest German Foreign Office travel advice and the way to the embassies of each country.
🇵🇱 Poland
Poland has been a member of the European Union since 1 May 2004. During the trip you should carry your identity card. No visa is required.
The official currency is the Polish złoty (PLN).
Practical advice: please do not exchange euros for złoty in Germany before the trip. After crossing the border we will take you to a state-licensed exchange office — the rates there are usually most favourable.
🇱🇹 Lithuania
Lithuania has been a member of the European Union since 1 May 2004. During the trip you should carry your identity card. No visa is required.
Lithuania has been a member of the Eurozone since 1 January 2015. The euro replaced the litas — payments are made in euros.
🇷🇺 Russia
Entry into Russia requires a visa. An e-visa is available, among others, and can be obtained relatively easily and conveniently.
The official currency is the Russian rouble (RUB).
